GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace has lauded Somalia’s leadership and people for what it described as exceptional hospitality and a clear national commitment to rebuilding the country, following an official visit to Mogadishu.

Council President Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan said the delegation witnessed a nation “rising from profound crises” and demonstrating a firm resolve to restore stability and pursue long-term development.

Aljarwan highlighted signs of growing normalcy in the capital, from active markets and ports to improving airport infrastructure, calling them indicators of Somalia’s steady recovery. He said scenes of children playing in Mogadishu underscored the public’s determination to move beyond conflict.

He also commended the government for easing procedures for visitors, investors and official missions, noting that such openness reflects Somalia’s orientation toward economic growth.

The Council said Somalia’s cultural depth and strategic position in the Horn of Africa place it in a strong position to contribute to regional and global peace efforts. It voiced confidence in the role of government institutions, civil society and the public in driving the country’s reconstruction phase.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to work with Somali partners to promote tolerance, support sustainable development, and empower women and youth, saying Somalia “loves peace, supports peace, and needs peace” — and that the international community likewise needs Somalia’s active participation in regional security.
