GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Senior health officials from Somalia’s federal government and the SSC-Khaatumo regional administration have pledged to deepen cooperation to improve healthcare delivery across the country, with a focus on strengthening systems in underserved areas.

Deputy Minister of Health and Social Welfare Dr. Mohamed Hassan Bulaale on Saturday received SSC-Khaatumo’s Minister of Health, Dr. Yusuf Saleebaan, in Mogadishu for high-level talks on expanding coordination and resources between the two administrations. Federal MP Osman Ali Jubba also attended the meeting.

The two sides committed to a joint framework aimed at scaling up essential health services, particularly maternal and child care, immunization programs, emergency response systems, and medical staff training.

“This partnership is key to ensuring that no Somali is left behind when it comes to accessing quality healthcare,” said Dr. Bulaale, highlighting the need for unified efforts in policy and service implementation.

The talks mark a renewed federal-regional push to close healthcare gaps and improve delivery systems in areas such as SSC-Khaatumo, where services remain limited due to years of underinvestment.

Officials described the visit as a critical step toward building a more inclusive and resilient health sector capable of meeting the needs of all Somali communities.
