Somalia Strengthens Diplomatic Ties in Bid for UN Security Council Seat

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia has made significant strides in expanding its diplomatic presence as it renews its campaign for a seat on the United Nations Security Council, according to Federal Minister of Justice and Constitution Hassan Moallim Mohamud.
Speaking on Sunday at a high-level forum organized by the Institute of Diplomatic Studies (IDS) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Minister Hassan Moallim highlighted Somalia’s increasing role in global security and the potential impact of its membership in the Security Council.
“Somalia has made remarkable progress in strengthening its international relations,” said the minister, stressing the importance of securing a seat at the global decision-making table. He noted that Somalia’s growing involvement in shaping international policies would enhance its reputation and global influence.
Among the distinguished attendees were Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism H.E. Daud Aweis Jama and Ambassador Yusuf Garaad Omar, both of whom commended Somalia’s diplomatic achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting global peace and security.
The panel emphasized Somalia’s ambition to take on a more active role in international security discussions and decision-making processes, positioning the nation as a key player on the world stage.
