GOOBJOOG NEWS | GALGADUUD: Somalia’s prime minister inspected newly trained security personnel at the Towfiiq Training School in Galmudug on Monday as the government moves to strengthen security in northern Galgaduud region.

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre was accompanied by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoor Qoor and National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Director Mahad Mohamed Salad during the visit.

The officials inspected new recruits undergoing training at the facility who are being prepared to join NISA, according to the prime minister’s office.

The government said the recruits are being prepared to support security operations and peacebuilding efforts in northern Galgaduud, an area where authorities have recently stepped up efforts to improve stability.

The federal government of Somalia has continues to expand the capacity of its national security institutions and increase the role of Somali forces in maintaining security as the country works toward greater responsibility for its own security.

NISA is responsible for intelligence and national security operations, while regional authorities have increasingly sought to strengthen cooperation with federal security institutions in addressing security challenges and maintaining stability in areas affected by conflict.

The government did not provide details on the number of recruits inspected, the length of their training or when they would be deployed.
