GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and Sweden have agreed to advance economic cooperation and explore new investment opportunities following talks between Finance Minister Bihi Iman Egeh and Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa.

The discussions, held in Mogadishu, set the stage for deeper bilateral engagement focused on supporting Somalia’s economic recovery, boosting private-sector investment and expanding development partnerships.

Officials said the talks reinforced a shared commitment to practical, results-driven cooperation.

Dousa’s visit is expected to translate the discussions into concrete initiatives through meetings with government leaders and Somali business figures, aimed at identifying projects that can attract Swedish investment and support sustainable growth.

The engagement with Sweden strengthens international confidence in the country’s reform agenda and underscores Somalia’s push to diversify partnerships as it rebuilds key sectors of the economy and improves livelihoods.
