GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and Switzerland have agreed to deepen cooperation on governance, stabilisation and reconciliation, as part of efforts to strengthen state institutions and improve service delivery at the local level, officials said after talks in Mogadishu.

Interior Minister Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh and a Swiss delegation led by Patricia Danzi, head of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, said the discussions reinforced joint commitments to support Somalia’s federal system, peacebuilding initiatives and inclusive governance.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to translate into continued Swiss support for programmes aimed at strengthening local administrations, advancing national reconciliation and stabilising communities emerging from conflict.

The talks also focused on aligning development assistance with Somalia’s state-building priorities, a move Somali officials said would help improve coordination, accountability and the impact of international support.

Somalia and Switzerland described the engagement as a step toward sustaining long-term partnerships that contribute to political stability, institutional resilience and sustainable development across the country.
