Somalia Team Departs For AFCON 2027 Qualifier Preparations

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s national football team, the Ocean Stars, has departed Mogadishu to begin preparations for a crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The team left from Aden Adde International Airport en route to Maputo ahead of their preliminary round match against the Mauritius national football team scheduled for March 27.

The fixture is seen as key to Somalia’s chances of progressing in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The travelling squad includes locally based players, who are expected to link up with foreign-based teammates selected by head coach Yusuf Ali Nur.

Team officials said the players are focused on delivering a strong performance as Somalia seeks to keep its qualification hopes alive.
