Somalia: There is Sharp increase in the number of measles and malnutrition
Many children suffering from measles and malnutrition are hospitalized in Bandair hospital as health officials confirmed to the media.
Lul Mohamed Mohamud, the director of Bandair hospital told Goobjoog FM that there is sharp increase in the number of patients suffering from measles and malnutrition reaching the hospital.
She stated that at least 70 cases of measles and 120 cases of malnutrition reach Banadir hospital every month.
Mrs . Lul reiterated that the diarrhea outbreak that in the capital that has been on the rise the recent months has now decreased.
She confirmed that no organization that supports the hospital directly hence the hospital runs short of medicine to treat the large of patients.
“No organization that supports the hospital directly; we run short of medicine” Lul said.
The remarks of health officials comes a time when the federal government of Somalia opened polio and measles vaccination campaign on Wednesday, the ministry urged all parents to take their children to the vaccination center for inoculation.
