Somalia to mark African Statistics Day tomorrow
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somalia will tomorrow mark African Statistics Day which takes place on November 18 every year in Africa.
The theme of the event is ‘Modernising National Statistics Systems to Support Sociocultural Development in Africa.
Finance Minister Abdirahman Beileh will deliver the key remarks.
The event which is jointly hosted by the National Bureau of Statistics and UNICEF will also be graced by UK ambassador to Somalia Kate Foster, Auditor General Mohamed Ali among several attendees.
There will also be a panel discussion themed, ‘Enhancing statistical capacity and literacy for policy action.
The African Statistics Day provides the forum to discuss financing statistics in Africa, in particular on the implementation of the decision of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union and development and harmonization of statistics in Africa, in particular statistics on labor migration, irregular migration, trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants.
The event will take place at Decale Airport located inside Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.
