Somalia traders display their products at the Gulfood Fair 2019 in UAE
The Gulfood Fair and Beverage Trade Exhibition have yesterday officially opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates.
The 23rd annual export is featuring over five thousand (5000) companies from all over the world participated in this fair to offer a variety of foods and drinks.
The trade exhibition platform which kicked off on 17th is expected to continue till 22nd of February.

The countries that have been widely observed in this year fair include Turkey and India, which have really different foodstuffs there.
In Somalia, there are 40 companies participating in the exhibition featuring the most popular commodities in Somalia, such as banana, leather, sesame, dried lemons, chilli, groundnuts, sesame, beans, oils, meat and other foods.
The Growth, Enterprise, Employment and Livelihoods (GEEL) and USAID are supporting the inclusive economic growth for Somalia farmers and help some the Somali participants to bring their products to the export trade.
Ms Charlie Doom, a senior executive officer at USAID, said that the main objective of GEEL is to help the Somali farmers to increase their agricultural productivity and assist them in finding a market for their products.
Khadra Abdullahi, a coconut trader said she received good-sized oil from the coconut demanded by an exciting business in the coconut of Somalia.
Hirsiyo Jiiqleey who is also a banana trader has received demands from other traders in the market who want to buy the banana from Somalia.
The business traders from Somalia were complaining the Lemon exports from the country and called on the federal government of Somalia to have on focus about the management of the Lemon export
Somalia is undergoing a unique and progressive transformation with immense trade opportunities to explore.

Hamoud Ali Hasan, Federal Deputy Minister of Agriculture & Irrigation; Mohamud Yasin Artan, Director of Dept. of Food Security and Early Warning, Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation; Ahmed Elmi Muhumad, Senior Advisor on Trade and Investment, Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Mohamud Ahmed Hassan, International Trade Relations, Ministry of Commerce & Industry; delegates from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); representatives from the USAID/Somalia Growth, Enterprise, Employment and Livelihoods (GEEL) Project and representatives of Somali companies are all at the exhibition in UAE.
The Gulfood Trade Exhibition is a high-impact platform for Somali producers to introduce their products and expand their reach to regional and international markets.
