GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia has taken a significant step toward democratic governance with the conclusion of a two-day training program for Voter Registration Operators Trainers in Mogadishu.

The initiative, organized under the framework of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), aims to ensure a free, fair, and transparent local government election process.

The program focused on equipping trainers with essential skills in voter registration and election management, particularly in using modern technology to enhance the integrity of the electoral process.

These trainers will play a critical role in overseeing the implementation of voter registration at the grassroots level, ensuring a credible and efficient system.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Somalia’s National Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NEBC) Chairman Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan, alongside the Deputy Chairman and other commission members, emphasized the significance of the training in advancing Somalia’s democratic transition.

“The country has moved toward elections, and the power of the nation will be returned to the Somali people, allowing them to elect leaders who will represent their interests and guide the country forward,” Chairman Hassan stated.

He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to conducting elections with transparency, integrity, and efficiency while stressing the importance of empowering citizens to actively participate in shaping their leadership.

The training marks a crucial milestone in Somalia’s efforts to build a robust electoral system and promote inclusive governance.

With newly trained voter registration operators set to be deployed, the National Electoral and Boundaries Commission is reinforcing its mission to deliver credible elections, paving the way for greater political stability and democratic progress.
