Somalia, Turkey Discuss Deepening Security Cooperation in Mogadishu Talks
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has received a Turkish delegation led by Ambassador Ali Onaner, Director-General for Africa at Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with Turkey’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktas, at his office in Mogadishu.
According to the Prime Minister’s office, the talks focused on strengthening ties between Somalia and Turkey, with particular emphasis on security cooperation and joint efforts to combat terrorism to support stability in Somalia and across the wider region.
Prime Minister Hamza thanked the Turkish government and people for what he described as their consistent support for Somalia, noting that Turkey remains a strategic partner that has played a visible role in supporting Somalia’s security and in safeguarding the country’s unity, independence and territorial integrity.
For his part, Ambassador Onaner expressed appreciation for the reception and reiterated that Turkey would continue to stand by Somalia, pledging to further deepen cooperation between the two countries.
