Somalia, Turkey Discuss Joint Infrastructure Projects to Boost Regional Growth

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MUDUG: The Federal Government of Somalia and the Republic of Turkey have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation on infrastructure and economic development, with a focus on strategic projects in central Somalia.

In a meeting held in Mudug, Somali Vice President of Galmudug State Ali Dahir Eid met with Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Alper Aktaş to advance discussions on priority areas aligned with national development goals.

The agenda included the development of Hobyo Port, improvement of road and airport infrastructure, and increased Turkish private sector investment.

The two sides underscored the importance of these projects in supporting Somalia’s federal vision of inclusive economic growth and improved regional connectivity.

Ambassador Aktaş reiterated Turkey’s long-standing support for Somalia’s reconstruction efforts and emphasized Turkey’s interest in contributing to sustainable infrastructure that aligns with Somalia’s national recovery plan.

Vice President Eid, speaking on behalf of the regional administration, welcomed the Federal Government’s backing and highlighted the stable security environment in Galmudug as an enabler for international investment.

The meeting marks a step forward in the Somalia, Turkey partnership, focused on accelerating critical development projects across the federal member states.
