Somalia, Turkey Expand Cooperation to Fight Disinformation and Modernize Media

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANKARA: A Somali government delegation led by Deputy Minister of Information Abdirahman Yusuf Omar concluded a working visit to Turkey aimed at boosting media cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties.

The delegation held talks with Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Burhanettin Duran and officials from the Presidential Communications Directorate. Discussions focused on combating misinformation, enhancing public communication, and supporting Somalia’s media modernization.

“We gained valuable insights from Turkey’s advanced media institutions,” said Deputy Minister Adaala, who praised the visit as a step toward building Somalia’s media capacity.

The Somali team also visited Anadolu News Agency, TRT, and defense firm Havelsan, exploring Turkey’s experience in communication and technology integration.

Both sides expressed commitment to expanding cooperation in media and strategic information sharing, reflecting their broader partnership in development and diplomacy.
