Somalia, Turkey Hold High-Level Talks on Boosting Bilateral Cooperation
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdulsalam Abdi Ali, on Monday received a senior Turkish delegation in Mogadishu for discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, was described as part of ongoing consultations aimed at deepening relations between Somalia and Turkey.
During the talks, Minister Abdulsalam thanked the Turkish government for its continued support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also highlighted Turkey’s role in backing Somalia in international forums, particularly within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The Turkish delegation included Ali Onaner, Director-General for African Affairs at Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktas.
Both sides agreed to continue consultations and cooperation in priority areas of mutual interest, with the aim of further advancing the strategic relationship between Somalia and Turkey, according to the statement.
