Somalia, Turkey Mark 60 Years of Ties, Pledge Deeper Cooperation
GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANKARA: Somalia and Turkey marked 60 years of diplomatic relations on Wednesday, with officials from both countries pledging to deepen cooperation across political, economic and social sectors.
The anniversary ceremony, hosted by Somalia’s embassy in Ankara, highlighted the longevity of bilateral ties and reaffirmed commitments to expanding what both sides described as a strategic partnership.
Somali Ambassador to Turkey Fathudin Ali (Ospite) said the relationship had evolved into a broad-based cooperation that supports Somalia’s reconstruction and development, while Turkish officials underscored Ankara’s continued engagement with Somalia.
Participants said the milestone provided an opportunity to build on past achievements and chart new areas of collaboration, including trade, investment and institutional cooperation.
The event was attended by Turkish members of parliament, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and diplomats from the Somali embassy, reflecting the political weight both sides attach to the partnership.
