Somalia, Turkey Seek Deeper Cooperation on Ports and Maritime Services

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia has welcomed a high-level Turkish delegation to Mogadishu, highlighting the two countries’ growing cooperation in port development and maritime transport.

State Minister for Ports and Maritime Transport Mohamed Abdulqadir Dhule received the delegation, led by Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Durmuş Ünüvar, on arrival at Aden Adde International Airport.

Dhule said the visit marked an important step in strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in port infrastructure, maritime transport and strategic services critical to Somalia’s economic recovery and growth.

During their visit, the Turkish delegation is expected to hold talks with senior officials at Somalia’s Ministry of Ports and Maritime Transport, focusing on technical cooperation, capacity building and joint projects linked to transport and economic infrastructure.

Turkey has been a key partner for Somalia in recent years, supporting projects in infrastructure, trade and development. Officials said the latest visit underscored a shared commitment to enhancing connectivity, facilitating trade and promoting sustainable economic development.
