Somalia, U.S. Agree to Deepen Security and Diplomatic Coordination
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and the United States have agreed to strengthen security cooperation and diplomatic coordination following talks in Mogadishu between Foreign Minister Abdisalam Ali and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Justin Davis.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration in counterterrorism efforts, expand political engagement and enhance joint support for peace and stability initiatives.
Both sides reaffirmed their intention to maintain close coordination on security assistance and humanitarian support programmes, which Somali officials described as essential to sustaining national stability and strengthening state institutions.
The deal signals continued alignment between Mogadishu and Washington on priority areas including institutional development, stabilization and long-term security sector reform.
The discussions also reinforces the strategic partnership between the two countries and set the stage for further high-level engagements aimed at advancing shared objectives.
