Somalia, UK Discuss Security Transition and Long-Term Stability

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their cooperation on security and stabilization efforts, following a high-level meeting in Mogadishu between Foreign Minister Abdisalan Abdi Ali and newly appointed British Ambassador Charles King.
The talks centered on the UK’s ongoing support for Somalia’s security transition, including its role in the African Union’s new stabilization mission (AUSSOM), which has replaced the former ATMIS peacekeeping operation.
Officials discussed ways to reinforce joint efforts against Al-Shabaab and ensure a smooth transition as Somali forces gradually take over security responsibilities.
The meeting also underlined shared goals in governance and development, with both sides expressing a commitment to deepening diplomatic ties and advancing long-term peace in Somalia.
