GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia’s Interior Minister Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh and UN Deputy Special Representative George Conway agreed on Wednesday to step up joint coordination to ensure a smoother transition as the UN mission enters its next phase, a move officials say will strengthen stability and local governance across the country.

The discussions resulted in commitments to streamline cooperation mechanisms between the Federal Government and the UN, aiming to reduce operational gaps and improve the handover of responsibilities under the transition framework.

Both sides also agreed to expand efforts to deliver durable solutions for displaced communities, including improved services, reintegration support and targeted recovery programmes. Officials said these measures are expected to ease pressure on host communities and accelerate long-term recovery in areas affected by conflict and climate shocks.

The meeting concluded with a shared pledge to prioritise the needs of vulnerable populations while reinforcing national governance structures — an outcome Somali authorities say will help sustain gains in stability and resilience nationwide.
