GOOBJOOG NEWS | MADRID: Somalia’s Minister of Public Works, Dr. Elmi Mohamoud Nur, urged international partners to ramp up investment in Somalia’s infrastructure as the Spain–Africa Summit opened in Madrid on Monday.

Addressing delegates at the high-level forum, Dr. Elmi presented Somalia’s newly launched National Transformation Plan (2025–2029), a blueprint for reconstruction and development focused on roads, seaports, energy, and water systems.

The plan aligns with both the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and Spain’s strategic partnership framework with Africa.

“Somalia is not being rebuilt, it is being transformed,” the Minister said, highlighting a shift from recovery to sustainable development. He called on Spain and global partners to support Somalia’s push for regional connectivity and economic growth, amid a renewed focus on stability and long-term planning.

The summit brings together senior leaders from across Africa and Europe to deepen cooperation on trade, security, climate, and development.
