Somalia Warns Agencies Against Collaborating with Terrorist Groups
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia has issued a strong warning to all local and international agencies operating within the country, strictly prohibiting any form of collaboration or engagement with extremist groups.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation (MoIFAR) reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and safeguarding national security.
Citing Anti-Terrorism Law No. 007, enacted on March 20, 2023, as the legal basis for these measures, the ministry emphasized that all agencies are strictly forbidden from working with, providing services to, obeying orders from, or offering financial support to terrorist organizations such as Al-Shabaab and Daesh.
The government warned that any organization found violating these directives would face immediate revocation of its operating license. Additionally, any entity discovered to be affiliated with or representing terrorist groups will be subjected to legal prosecution under Somali law.
The ministry underscored its responsibility to enforce the Anti-Terrorism Law and prevent financial crimes linked to terrorism. It also urged non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to adhere strictly to these regulations to uphold national security and stability.
