Somalia Welcomes France’s Move to Recognise Palestinian State

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia has hailed France’s announcement of its intent to recognise the State of Palestine, calling the move a principled and timely step in support of Palestinian self-determination.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Somali government described the decision as a reaffirmation of the Palestinian people’s right to sovereign statehood in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.
“This is a courageous contribution to the global pursuit of justice and a two-state solution,” the statement said, adding that France’s stance bolsters growing international consensus around Palestinian statehood and long-term peace in the region.
Somalia has long supported Palestinian aspirations for an independent state and sees France’s announcement as a major diplomatic shift that could help advance peace efforts in the Middle East.
