Somalia welcomes move by US to impose sanctions on Al-Shabaab financiers

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Somali government has welcomed the decision of the United States government to impose sanctions on individuals who financially and logistically support the Al-Shabaab terror group.

 The government said that the action taken by Washington was a culmination of joint investigations led by the two governments aimed at eradicating terrorists using the Islamic religion for their own selfish gains and killing innocent Muslims.

 The decision taken by the US government also coincides with the recent warning issued to financiers of the terrorist group that their businesses would be closed down, according to the government of Somalia.
