GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia’s health ministry and the World Food Programme (WFP) have agreed to strengthen joint efforts to tackle hunger and child malnutrition, following talks in Mogadishu between Health Minister Ali Haji Adam and WFP’s Somalia country director El-Khidir Daloum.

The two sides discussed scaling up community nutrition programmes, especially for mothers and children, and promoting the use of locally available foods through sustainable supply systems.

They also agreed to establish a joint committee to mobilize resources and coordinate campaigns linked to commitments made at the Nutrition for Growth Summit in February 2025.

The health ministry and WFP said partnerships with Somali businesses, diaspora groups and charities would be expanded to help ensure regular access to nutritious food and essential medicines for vulnerable communities.
