Somalia’s Disaster Agency Wins Global Award for Early Warning Systems

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has been internationally recognized for its leadership in disaster prevention and early warning systems, receiving an award at the World Food Forum, officials said on Friday.
The award, presented by the Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), was accepted on behalf of Somalia by the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, who represented SoDMA at the event.
The recognition underscores Somalia’s growing role in advancing the global Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative, which aims to strengthen community resilience against natural disasters and climate-related hazards.
SoDMA said the award reflects its continued commitment to safeguarding Somali lives and livelihoods through stronger preparedness, early warning networks, and long-term resilience-building efforts.
