GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) conducted an inspection of several voting centers in the Banaadir region on Tuesday to assess their readiness for upcoming elections.

The inspection aimed to evaluate the preparedness of designated voter registration sites across districts in Banaadir.

During their visit, Commission members met with local officials and residents in the districts of Kaaraan, Yaaqshiid, Heliwaa, and Gubadley. Officials from these districts affirmed their readiness for the local council elections and expressed their commitment to ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The Commission emphasized the importance of voter participation, highlighting the significance of Somalis selecting their leaders through a one-person, one-vote system – marking a shift from the previous indirect election methods.
