GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle has called for African-led approaches to resolving trade and cross-border disputes, telling a gathering of law students in Nairobi that Somalia’s business community offers a model of resilience and openness.

Opening the Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch International Intervarsity ADR Moot at United States International University–Africa (USIU–Africa) on Wednesday, Ambassador Abdulle said the continent must strengthen intra-African trade and build dispute resolution systems tailored to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

“Somali entrepreneurs have achieved success by being open, responsive and honest, values that have shaped the wider business environment in Africa,” the envoy said.

The ambassador’s remarks underscored Somalia’s push to frame itself as an active player in Africa’s economic integration, moving beyond security concerns to highlight its contribution to trade and diplomacy.

The moot, attended by prominent African figures including Professor P.L.O. Lumumba and Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch, runs for several days and brings together students from across the continent to debate solutions to Africa’s trade and conflict challenges.
