GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Finance Minister Bihi Iman Egeh has been named Africa’s Finance Minister of the Year 2025, a recognition awarded by African Leadership Magazine after a competitive online vote.

Egeh outpaced counterparts from Senegal, South Sudan, Egypt, and Zimbabwe, in a contest that underscored Somalia’s growing digital influence and the public’s engagement on social media platforms.

The award comes as Somalia continues to implement sweeping financial reforms and deepen its commitment to transparency and debt relief.

The accolade marks a major milestone for Egeh, who has led Somalia’s push to stabilize its economy and rebuild fiscal institutions following decades of conflict. His efforts have been widely credited with boosting international confidence in Somalia’s economic trajectory.

Egeh will formally receive the award during the African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) at the Africa Summit London 2025 this July.

Senior government officials, including State Minister Raaxo Janaqoow and Deputy Minister Cabdiqafaar Elmi Xaange, joined the Ministry of Finance staff in congratulating Egeh, calling the award a reflection of Somalia’s steady progress toward economic recovery.
