Somalia’s Senate Speaker Visits Moscow Mosque in Push to Boost Religious, Cultural Ties

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOSCOW: Somalia’s Senate Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi visited Moscow’s Cathedral Mosque on Wednesay, as part of efforts to strengthen interfaith dialogue and cultural cooperation between Somalia and Russia.

Hashi and his delegation were received by the mosque’s Imam and Khateeb, Ildar Galeev, who led them on a tour of the landmark complex. The Speaker praised the mosque’s architectural significance and its role in promoting Islamic values in Russia.

“We thank you for the warm welcome and commend your efforts in spreading Islam’s message of peace and tolerance,” Hashi said during the visit.

He called on the mosque’s leadership to continue engaging the broader Russian public through educational outreach, emphasizing the importance of fostering understanding and mutual respect between faith communities.

The visit highlights Somalia’s broader diplomatic aim of building cross-cultural connections and strengthening ties with religious institutions abroad.
