Somaliland President Kicks off National Exams for 40,000 Students

GOOBJOOG NEWS | HARGEISA: Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi  on Saturday inaugurated the start of national secondary and intermediate school examinations, marking a key annual milestone in the region’s academic calendar.

The launch ceremony was held at Farah Omar Secondary School in the capital Hargeisa and attended by students, educators, and education ministry officials.

In a brief address, President Cirro underscored the importance of education in shaping Somaliland’s future and called on students to uphold integrity during the exams.

“Education is the foundation of national development. I urge all candidates to approach this challenge with honesty and confidence,” he said.

Roughly 40,000 students are sitting for the 2025 national examinations across Somaliland, according to the Ministry of Education. The tests will run under strict supervision aimed at maintaining credibility and fairness.

Somaliland, a self-declared republic in the Horn of Africa, continues to invest in its education system despite lacking international recognition.
