The final phase of Lower House elections for Somaliland community concluded
51 delegates has voted for the last lawmaker to effectively conclude the month long Lower House polls.
All the 46 seats allocated for clans from the northern region and Somalia have now been filled making Somaliland the last one to conclude the exercise.
Huda Ahmed Ali has emerged winners in poll.
Ali won with 46 votes while her opponent got 5 votes.
Ms. Ali thanked the delegates for upholding the 30 percent gender rule, saying she was ready to work for the betterment of Somalia.
“I thank all the people who worked with me and I am particularly pleased with the decision to uphold the 30 percent quota for women representation in parliament,” she said.
Elections in Mogadishu have so far been orderly and peaceful despite a few hitches which included contests over delegates lists at the beginning of the exercise.
