HirShabelle elects six parliamentarians

GOOBJOOG NEWS/JOWHAR: HirShabelle state today elected six members to the Lower House.

Yusuf Ibrahim Afrah won the HOP 033 seat in the House of the People with 69 votes, while his rival, Mohamed Hussein Sabriye, received 22 votes. and lost six votes.

The second seat, HOP 055 was won by Hir-Shabelle State Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Mohamed Omar Aimoy who was voted by a show of hands and received 73 votes after his fellow contender, Mohamed Omar Ali, failed to show up for the exercise.

Farhiya Mohamud became the first female Lawmaker to the House of the People, after winning the HOP 52 seat after receiving –

Dahabo Suusow Mohamud became the second woman after Farhiya to clinch the HOP 088 seat of the BJFS parliament in Jowhar today. 

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Khadijo M. Diriye retained her seat- HOP 097 for the sixth time since the year 2000.

Mohamud Mohamed Jim’ale, the former Prime Minister of Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG), won the HOP 098 seat with a landslide victory.
