Southwest MP resigns from post
One of newly selected Southwest MPs resigned from the post on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters, farah Sheikh Osman said due to several reasons, he decided to step down from the post following lengthy discussions with his titled clan elders and politicians.
Protesting the process in which the nominees, was cherry-picked, departing the post, he noted that power sharing quota used by Southwest Administration has failed to appease his clan.
“My nomination goes against the number of MPs we were expecting therefore I say I am no longer Southwest MP”farah said during press briefing.
This comes less than 24 hours after Southwest state released second lineup of its Members of its assembly.
A second group of 57 MPs were yesterday sworn in to complete the ISWA regional assembly, at a ceremony that was held in Baidoa. Notably, 30 women have been selected and sworn in as legislators, a record in Somalia.
