Southwest state President appoints high court judge

President of Southwest State, Shariif Hassan Sheikh Adan on Saturday appointed first high court judge for his regional administration more than two years after the formation of his administration.

The appointment of Ahmed Abdullahi Hussein Fanah comes at a time when the Judiciary officials appointed by Somali federal government are grappling with a backlog of cases and is therefore expected to ease the disposal of cases in the regional state.

The appointment of the High Court judges takes effect immediately.
