Speaker Madobe Urges Stronger Aviation Workforce as Airspace Control Advances
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: House of the People speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), used International Civil Aviation Day on Sunday to call for deeper investment in training and regulation as the country strengthens its grip over its airspace.
In his address, Madobe said Somalia’s recent progress in reclaiming and managing its skies must be matched with a skilled workforce capable of sustaining those gains.
He urged the Ministry of Transport and the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) to prioritise advanced, continuous training to ensure Somali aviation personnel can compete and perform at international standards.
Madobe said Parliament had already enacted laws to empower the SCAA and would fast-track any additional regulations needed to modernise the sector.
Strong legal and institutional foundations, he argued, were essential for Somalia to maintain safe air navigation, attract investment and expand regional aviation links.
The speaker’s remarks underscored the broader national effort to rebuild critical state institutions after decades of disruption.
Aviation officials and international partners at the event welcomed the message, noting that Somalia’s growing capacity in airspace management is becoming a key symbol of institutional recovery and economic confidence.
