SSC-Khatumo State Formation Conference to Kick Off on July 10

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Delegates will meet from July 10 to deliberate on the official formation of the SSC-Khatumo Federal Member State.

The Ministry of Interior and Federal Affairs announced Sunday that the state formation conference will commence on July 10 as the country awaits the formation of the 7th Federal Member State.

This follows a National Consultative Council meeting chaired by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and earlier visit by Prime Miinister Hamze Barre to Laas’ Anod in mid-April.

The state formation conference normally lasts for couple of days into weeks as delegates discuss and debate on several issues including the election of the first parliament and subsequent election of a new president.

Abdikhadir Ahmed Aw-Ali currently serves as the interim president of SSC-Khatumo.

SSC-Khatumo comprise Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn (SSC), some regions of which are claimed by Somaliland.
