GOOBJOOG NEWS | KHARTOUM: Sudan has rejected the proposal to have Kenyan president William Ruto lead a quartet of four African states, to facilitate peace talks under the regional bloc, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Junta leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan accused Nairobi of “habouring” sympathizers of the Rapid Support Forces (RFS) saying Sudan had rejected the IGAD mediation schedule where president Ruto had promised to arrange a face-to-face meeting between the two sides.

However, according to regional bloc, resolutions publicized in an official IGAD communique remain in force until formally revised by the heads of state and government of the eight-member bloc.

On Monday, IGAD had named Kenya, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Djibouti as members of a quartet to help Sudanese warring generals seek peace.
