Suspect arrested in Female journalist’s killing

Somali security forces arrested a man for suspicion of involvement in the killing of Somali female journalist and investigation into the case is underway, Somali deputy information said.

Deputy Information Minister Abdullahi Olad Rooble told reporters in Mogadishu that accomplice in blast that killed late Hindi Hajji Mohamed is in the hands of security agencies.

Somalia Federal Government would put the detained individual on display very soon, he added.

Hindi succumbed to injuries after Improvised explosive device (IED) planted under the driver seat of her car blew up near KM4 road of Mogadishu.

She who was until her death working with  Radio Mogadishu and National Television.

20th September 2012, her late husband, Liban Ali Noor who was the head of programs at the State owned Radio and Television (SNTV/Radio) together with Abdishatar Dahir Sabriye died in explosion occurred at The Village Restaurant in Mogadishu.

Late Hinda Haji Mohamed becomes the fourth journalist killed in Somalia this year and the third female journalist killed in Somalia since 2005.

Among the deceased journalists this year are freelance journalist Mustafa Abdinoor Safaana killed at Sahafi Hotel Attack, Daud Ali Omar, radio Baidoa (assassinated in Baidoa last April), Mohamed A. Moalin, Universal TV (killed in a suicide attack at the Jazeera Hotel last July).

On June 5, 2005, armed gunmen shot to death Horn Afrik Radio reporter Ms Duniya Muhiyadin Nur between Mogadishu and Afgoi.

On February 9, 2005, armed assailants shot to death Ms. Kate Peyton, a Johannesburg-based BBC television producer outside Hotel Sahafi in Mogadishu.
