Targeted Hiiraan Operation Eliminates Six Militants, Authorities Say

GOOBJOOG NEWS | HIIRAAN: Somali National Army troops, backed by local militias, killed at least six fighters linked to a militant group in a targeted operation in Hiiraan region on Wednesday, officials said.

The operation took place in the Waabweyn area, where the militants were transporting water in a tanker. Security forces intercepted the group, and the vehicle was destroyed to prevent further use, authorities said.

Military officials privy to the operation added that the mission proceeded as planned, and follow-up efforts are ongoing to track remaining militants in the area.

The authorities described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt extremist networks and deny them access to resources in central Somalia.
