Mogadishu Hosts National Teachers’ Day Celebration
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia is today marking National Teachers’ Day with a major ceremony at the National Sports Village inside Mogadishu stadium, where senior officials, educators and members of the public are gathering to honour the country’s teachers.
The annual observance, first designated on 21 November 1974, remains one of Somalia’s most important national events. It highlights the role teachers play in shaping the country’s future and strengthening its education system.
Schools and learning institutions across the country are closed for the day, allowing students and communities to reflect on the contribution of teachers and the challenges they continue to navigate.
Officials attending the event say the celebration reaffirms the government’s commitment to supporting educators, noting that teachers remain central to Somalia’s social and national development.
