GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: Ten people have been killed in Kenya after a truck crashed into pedestrians in Migori town near the Kenya-Tanzania border.

According to area police boss Mark Wafula, the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle crashing into several pedestrians who were walking at the side of the road.

Witnesses told local media that the driver of the truck which was carrying bags of rice towards Isibania, a border town near Tanzania tried to warn pedestrians by honking the vehicle’s horn.

“We saw the lorry speeding into town, and it crashed passers-by, motorists, and boda boda riders as it went down the hill. It then rammed into a lorry with sand, forcing it to stop. If the lorry without sand weren’t in that spot, then the lorry with rice (which lost control) would have killed more,” an eyewitness recounted.

Many Kenyans travel to their rural homes during the Easter holidays, and road accidents during the busy season are common in the country.
