The drivers of the public vehicles operating between the roads linking Mogadishu and Baidoa road went on strike

The drivers and owners of the public vehicles operating between the roads linking Mogadishu and Baidoa went on strike complaining about increased illegal roadblocks set by armed men dressed in military uniform.
Some of the drivers who spoke to Goobjoog FM said that they went on strike due to uncontrolled number of checkpoints where the drivers are forced to pay huge money and robbing the passengers.
Some of the drivers who spoke to Goobjoog FM stated that they went on strike due to uncontrolled number of checkpoints where the drivers are forced to pay large amounts of money which they cannot afford.
“We have lots of problems with these illegal checkpoints on the road linking Mogadishu and Baidoa  because we cannot afford the amount of money we are forced to pay,” one of the drivers said.
The driver also stated that some of them sustained injuries after they were beaten thoroughly by the gunmen and that they filed their complains to the federal government of Somalia.
Lastly, drivers called the federal government to take immediate action of removing the illegal checkpoints in the region.
