Three Al Shabaab Ringleaders Killed in Central Somalia Offensive

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali security forces have killed three Al Shabaab militant group senior commanders in a targeted operation in the central Hiiraan region.
According to a government statement, the operation, conducted on June 6 in the Ceelhareeri area, was led jointly by the Somali National Army (SNA), the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), and international partners.
Among those confirmed killed was Nuur Abdi Rooble, known as Nuunuule, a top commander accused of orchestrating attacks across Hiiraan, Middle Shabelle, Mudug, and Galgaduud. He reportedly died of critical injuries sustained in the strike.
Also killed were two other key figures: a man identified as Caddaw, responsible for al Shabaab’s internal surveillance in Galgaduud, and Macallin Cumar, who oversaw the group’s indoctrination and militant training programs.
The government said the total number of militant leaders eliminated in this operation now stands at five, all of whom played roles in planning attacks against civilians and government forces in central Somalia.
“The Federal Government is monitoring ongoing attempts by the group to evacuate wounded fighters,” a statement from Somali authorities said. “There will be no escape for those who have terrorized our people.”
Authorities say the operation reflects growing momentum in the national campaign to dismantle Al Shabaab’s leadership and reclaim territory.
Supported by international partners and backed by public cooperation, the Somali government has vowed to continue relentless military and intelligence operations until the country is free from extremist threats.
