Three malnourished children die in Balanbale district

At least three children died due to malnutrition in Balanbale district of Galgadud region on Saturday.

Adan Cigal, one of the elders in the region told Goobjoog FM that dozens of malnourished children were hospitalized the last  few days.

The elder added that every 24 hours 2-3 malnourished children die in the region, no immediate help from government and aid agencies given to the people so far.

He also said that many under age children in Balanbal and surrounding areas might die if immediate action is not taken and urged federal government of Somalia and international aid agencies to deliver emergency support to the people.

Malnutrition which is widespread in developing countries is among the leading causes of death.
