Three people, including two children killed in IED blast in Daynille district
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Police have confirmed the killing of three people and injuries to six others after an IED went off this morning in Mogadishu’s Daynille district.
Sources say the blast, which targeted a vehicle belonging to Mogadishu Deputy Mayor Ali Yare, went off, killing three people, including a soldier and two children who were walking along the road at the time of the explosion.
Police spokesperson, Sadiq Aden Ali Doodishe, who spoke to SONNA news agency, said six other people, including five students, got injured in the morning blast.
Reports indicate that the deputy mayor was not in the vehicle at the time of the explosion, but that his bodyguards were injured.
The attack comes a week before the country barely recovers from the aftermath of another massive explosion that rocked the Somali capital on October 29, which rendered at least 120 people dead and more than 330 others injured..
