Three people Killed, several wounded in landmine explosion in Mogadishu
At least three people including Somali forces and civilians have been killed and several others wounded when a bomb detonated at checkpoint in Mogadishu’s major market.
A witness who asked to remain anonymous, fearing for his own safety said it was landmine explosion buried at the checkpoint near Mogadishu’s main Market, Bakaro.
“There was blood, pieces of clothing and shoes scattered around the chaotic place of the bomb attack.” he said.
The witness added that Somali government troops cordoned off the area shortly after the blast, keeping people from gathering at the scene for fears that there might be a second blast.
Despite being driven out of Mogadishu in 2011, Al Shabaab fighters still carrying out attacks, including car bombings on hotel, public gatherings and government buildings in the capital.
