Two soldiers arrested in connection with the killing two siblings in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Three Somali National army soldiers have been arrested in connection with the killing of three civilians, among them two siblings Thursday night at Mogadishu’s Debka intersection.

Two of the suspects were identified as Abdiwayel Moalim Adan and Dayah Nur Abdi according to a press statement issued by the Somali Police Force.

“Somali police have succeeded in apprehending the suspects who were involved in last night’s shooting which caused the death of Zakariye Mohamud Hussein and Sowda Mohamud Hussein. The suspects, Abdiwael Moalim Aden and Dayah Nur Abdi Aden is currently in custody and will be arraigned in a court,” police said.

While addressing the media, the police spokesman Abdifatah Aden Hassan had earlier said the two were killed after soldiers fired at an autorickshaw in the busy Debka Junction in Mogadishu.

Barely 12 hours after the killing of the two siblings, a brother and a sister, another young man known as Mahad Abdirahman Megag, a member of the Somali Custodial Corps succumbed to injuries he sustained on the head after he was fired at in an autorickshaw he was travelling in at Zoobe junction in Mogadishu Friday by soldiers in a military vehicle.

Megag becomes the 3rd person to be killed in the capital by security forces in recent months after Puntland presidential guards also opened fire at a civilian vehicle in Garowe town killing a young woman identified as Maryan Ahmed Aato in September.
