Tidal waves damage nets and boats in Mogadishu

Several boats were damaged and fishing nets washed away after tidal waves lashed the seaside areas of Mogadishu on Tuesday.
The chairman of Benadir fishermen cooperative, Hassan Mohamed Roble said the depression in the coast had triggered the high waves and strong winds.
“The fishermen had been at sea when their motor cut out and they drifted towards the main land, leaping from the boat just before waves washed it up” he said.
He said two fishermen were injured when they were trying to save their Nets and Boats from the waves.
Sea water also entered into some of the low-lying areas, which is about 4-5 km. Meanwhile, warning of another depression has brought gloom over the fishermen.
