Trade Minister disbands National Chamber of Commerce

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Somali National Chamber of Commerce has been dissolved by the government following claims of complaints by traders.
The Ministry of Trade announced Monday the dissolution of the chamber and unveiled new interim office holders.
Trade Ministers Khalif Omar said the dissolution of the chamber arose following complaints by traders on the operations of the chamber.
He unveiled a new administration made up of 29 members.
Abdullahi Osman from Hormuud Telecom will chair the new team and will be deputized by Abdiweli Warsame from Somtel.
Ali Hassan Nur from Al Moha General Trading will also serve as a deputy according to a memo issued by the Minister.
The dissolution of the national body comes about 11 months after the government also disbanded Banaadir Chamber of Commerce over reports that some of the officials were affiliated to the militant group Al-Shabaab.
Two officials alleged to be members of Al-Shabaab were arrested.
